GStreamer for compositing?

jimt-2
Hi,

I'm new to GStreamer, and am simply trying to determine if it's
suitable for my problem.

I would like to write a simple application that takes two movie files
as input and generates a new movie file that is a composite of the two
input movies (e.g.  frame-in-frame). From my current understanding of
the GStreamer architecture, it seems like a reasonable choice, but I
may be mistaken. Is GStreamer what I should use for this?

I'd like to write it in C/C++, and run on linux.

See the videomixer plugin.
