Gstreamer 1.12 snapshots

Adam Plocher

Hello, in the release notes for GStreamer 1.12 there’s a bullet point that mentions:

The high-level GstPlayer API was extended with functions for taking video snapshots and enabling accurate seeking

Does that refer to taking a single frame from a video stream and saving it?  If so, is it possible to do with gst-launch-1.0?  If so, can you provide an example?

Thank you!

No, it's unrelated to gst-launch-1.0. It's new API in GstPlayer that
allows to programatically get a image of the current video frame.

RE: Gstreamer 1.12 snapshots

Ahh bummer, but thank you for the quick response.  Can I use the gst-python library to grab the snapshot?  I'm a little familiar with that, although the extent of my usage hasn't gone too far beyond the standard abilities of gst-launch-1.0.

Thanks again!
