Is it possible to so non-linear editing over RTMP or psuedo http streaming?

I have a requirement to create short clips out of long videos that are hosted on Amazon cloudfront streaming. I want to grab one minute from a 60 minute video without downloading the whole file. 

Is it possible to do this with GnlURISource. If not does anyone have a suggestion for how this might be implemented?
