Looking for ffenc_h264

All,

I checked the archives and the last posts I could find were a couple of years old.  So, is ffenc_h264 available now?  In what package?  Available where?

You may be looking for the x264enc element, which is in upstream
gst-plugins-ugly (used to be in gst-plugins-bad), but is sometimes
packaged separately (e.g. as gstreamer0.10-x264 on debian-based
systems).

Cheers
 -Tim

PS: see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=607798 for problems /
limitations with the current element.

Tim,

Ok, I’m an idiot.  What’s the difference between x264 and h264?

H.264 is a video standard. x264 is a (free software - though there are
patents so it's not free to use) implementation of that standard.
