SOC - GstEditor

Felipe Coutinho-2
Hello. My name is Felipe Coutinho and I'm interested in work with gsteditor 0.0.2 at Google Summer of Code. I wrote down some tasks that I think is important to do at gsteditor. Does anyone have any suggestion? Is it a good idea work with this project? Thanks.

- Update the goocanvas dependency (CRITICAL)
- Implement the "New" action
- Implement the "Open", "Save" and "Save As" actions (I use a xml to save the pipeline??)
- Implement the "Cut", "Copy", "Paste" and "Clear" actions
- Add an Export action. It could be a plugin based action, then anyone will can do a plugin to export to a different format (.java, .py, etc)
- Show full element descriptions at the "Add Element" box when an element is selected
- Create script to generate installations package for distributions
- Create user documentation

The gsteditor only support goocanvas until 0.4 I think. I tried to run gsteditor with goocanvas 0.10 but some classes were excluded, so I couldn't. The CanvasView were excluded. Look at 3:

Re: SOC - GstEditor

If you're interested in working on GSTEditor, have a look at this:

http://github.com/emdash/gst-editor/tree/master

I'd call it a rough-draft. What's there:

* basic UI layout
* support for linking of actual pads
* support for requesting pads
* state change controls
* drag and drop UI

What Isn't:

* file load and save support
* support for linking template pads
* stability
* any semblance of HIG Compliance
* editor for gst properties (code checked in, but not used or tested)

At one point, this project had a home page, but it was torn down without notice.
  I didn't know about the pygsteditor project that was linked on google, either.

That's wierd, this works fine for me. I'm pushing a small change, let me know if
