The
BPSC has evolved over the years to adapt to the changing needs of Bihar's administrative machinery. Initially, the commission was responsible for conducting examinations for the recruitment of candidates to the various posts of the state government. However, with the passage of time, its scope expanded to include advisory functions and conducting interviews for the selection of eligible candidates. Presently, the BPSC consists of a chairman and several members, appointed by the governor of Bihar. The commission's headquarters is located in Patna, and it operates through various departments to ensure the smooth functioning of the recruitment process.
