Video not scaled from top left

Is it possible to configure/hack playbin to reproduce a video that is not
scaled and placed starting from the top left corner of the video window?

e.g. if I have playbin playing a 1280x720 video in a fullscreen window at
1920x1080 i see a video in the top-left quadrant of the display and the rest
black (or whatever)

Use video- filter property to set desired scaling element properties.
Property can be bin also

I'm not sure how this is helpful. I reckon that various elements of a
pipeline might try to scale the video up to the output window resolution.
Chiefly the videosink.

If you would like to get some help, may I suggest that you provide more details about the video's license you are using. Playbin already insert software scaler as needed and will scale up to your display sidlze if you videosink is properly implemented.
