I tried to build gstreamer using gst-build on the 1.14 branch on Ubuntu 16.04 using the command: meson build && ninja -C build/ The full output is pasted at the end of this email, but to summarize I got this error:
Next I tried to follow the given suggestion but no luck:
I also tried `sudo apt-get install libffi-dev` but it didn't help either. Can anyone tell me why gst-build is failing (on the 1.14 branch). In my last email, I was on Ubuntu 16.04. This time I am on Mint 19 (equivalent to Ubuntu 18.04). I am getting the same problem. This is what I'm doing in the Linux terminal

Yes, that command just doesn't work, I am not really sure why it is
recommended.
You can simply copy that file to your subprojects directory, and probably propose a patch to add that wrap there upstream as well, I don't think there is any reason not to. On 08/20/2018 09:38 PM, David Ing

Alright I got past the prior error with help from Mathieu by adding these steps ...

Any idea how to get past this one? (I have never used Meson before.) On Mon, Aug 20, 2018 at 1:03 PM Mathieu Duponchelle <[hidden email]> wrote:

After Carl's suggestion I executed the following ...

Here is the full terminal output:
But I just installed the gobject-introspection package. I made sure to close the terminal and re-open it (in case I needed some new environment variables from the package install) but it didn't help. That was a good suggestion Carl but it didn't work. I still get:
This time around I did not need to copy stuff around the `subprojects` folder. Presumably, the libraries that I installed (in the instructions below) got me around that part.' BTW: This markdown represents everything that I have done on my machine (starting from a brand new Linux system).
