I am working on a project where we are thinking of using Gstreamer for video streaming. I am trying to determine what license the gst-ffmpeg plugin falls under. On the Gstreamer site it seems to clearly specify LGPL as the license. However, a person previously working on my current project, had sent an email stating the following.
FFMPEG clearly has the LGPL license. When you acquire a copy of FFMPEG there is a configuration file that allows you to either compile a GPL or LGPL version of the library depending on what options you set. The gst-ffmpeg library seems to have been modified so that the GPL components are removed but they seem to have included the GPL license file with the distribution even though the configuration file seems to have hard coded an LGPL license flag.
Can someone confirm the licensing of the gst-ffmpeg for me.
Thanks, Tom
