The Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics, Teilinstitut Hannover, located in Hannover, invites job applications from programmers interested in applying their skills to search for gravitational waves from black holes.
The project involves developing software for analyzing data from the LIGO and Virgo gravitational-wave observatories.
Applicants are required to be proficient in Linux and software development in C. Prior familiarity with python, gstreamer and xml formats is desirable but is not a strict requirement. A background in the physical sciences and signal processing would be useful, but this is again not a strict requirement. The successful candidate should be able to work effectively in a team, and will be a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. (
