Hi all,
Over the past few days I've been fixing most of the DNS issues on the GStreamer domains (thanks to Omega). Now (www.)gstreamer.{net|org} will all direct you to the gstreamer website. We also have build.gstreamer.org which will point you to the buildbot reporting. Finally, and it's been something mentionned many times, we'd like to move away from sourceforge.net completely, for which we only use the mailman (mailing-lists) setup. Thanks to the freedesktop team we've now got mailing-lists on freedesktop servers.... ... But the question remain on what naming we want. We have the 2 possible setups ready to be used : * gstreamer-{commits|devel|security|announce}@lists.freedesktop.org OR * {commits|devel|security|announce}@lists.gstreamer.org Comments welcome on (1) whether to switch, (2) which naming scheme to use. Once we've all come to an agreement it should be trivial to: * Switch all members from the sf.net lists to the new mailing-lists (unsubcribing from one, subscribing to the other). * Move all archives from the sf.net lists to the new mailman setup. The domain name I would recommend using is lists.gstreamer.org in case -- one day far far away from now -- gstreamer switches to another mailing list provider that is not the wonderful freedesktop people. It would make the transition more seamless because you can take the gstreamer.org domain name with you. -- http://codebad.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ gstreamer-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gstreamer-devel |

Err... they should *actually* be using the "List-id" header. I'm sorry to say... but I'd consider that argument as not one. This is the 21st century, if you're still using a mail reader that doesn't support filtering on mail headers... And here I was thinking dropping the "[gst-devel]" subject prefix would cause an outrage... Oh wait, is it the first time I mention this ? :) > > The domain name I would recommend using is lists.gstreamer.org in case > -- one day far far away from now -- gstreamer switches to another > mailing list provider that is not the wonderful freedesktop people.
