Webcam on windows

Jerry Geis-2
What is the "source" for a webcam on windows ?
I just installed 1.12.3 msi package - I'm looking at using the webcam as a source input.

Thanks,

Jerry

In GStreamer we have ksvideosrc. Depending on the camera is may support
YUY2 or JPEG.

Hi I ran this and got an error:

C:\gstreamer\1.0\x86_64\bin>gst-launch-1.0.exe ksvideosrc ! autovideosink
WARNING: erroneous pipeline: no element "ksvideosrc"

I am using the pre-built package for 1.12.3 on windows 10. I have a lenovo X1 Carbon laptop.
Is there something extra I have to do to get the ksvideosrc ? Whats up ?

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi All - I found someone finally that said they had to install "complete" instead of "typical".

So I uninstalled and reinstalled with complete for 1.12.3 and the ksvideosrc is now present.

thanks!

Yes. this seems to really confuse people!  Capture seems quite a "typical" use case.  Could this possibly be rethought in a future build?

Thanks and best wishes,

Neil

Sure, best is simply to file a bug about it in bugs.gnome.org,
component cerbero (the build system).
